In 2010 Kadera has developed the Indicator Checklist Domestic violence in cooperation with Dimence and de Kern. This list has been revised in 2013 and the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports has included it as a tool in the National toolkit working with the reporting code domestic violence and child abuse.

In 2016 Kadera has reviewed the list again and developed it to the interactive Indicator Checklist Domestic violence and Child abuse with the help of FairWork, Pharos and Movisie.

The Indicator Checklist Domestic violence and Child abuse was made possible with financial help of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports, Rabobank Enschede – Haaksbergen en SOD&Fie van der hoop fondsen.

The indicators and risk factors you have ticked can be saved now in a PDF form and once the file is saved on your computer you can add extra information. The old information will be wiped from this application. Additionally more specific problems could apply to this case. In that case, you can consult the list of indicators below and the indicators will not be wiped from the other list. If not, you can choose to save as PDF to receive the file. When using the list of indicators on an iPhone, the form may be saved in IBook, from there you can send the file to your computer to make any changes.

Human Trafficking

Any form of exploitation, of forced (sexual) services, and of taking advantage of these circumstances. Don’t just think of forced prostitution, but also of the exploitation of men, women, and/or children, in e.g. catering, horticulture, housework or factory work.

Grooming and Child Sexual Exploitation

These pimps are human traffickers who use seduction techniques, manipulations, blackmail and violence to rope in girls with the objective to make them work for them as prostitutes or in other (illegal) sectors.

Harmful traditional practices

Violence, mutilation, and oppression resulting from orthodox and/or conservative traditions and beliefs about sexuality and gender roles. These include honour-based violence, child marriages and forced marriages, forced abandonment, female genital mutilation (FGM), and polygamy.

Derailed care

We talk about derailed care when a caregiver unintentionally crosses the boundaries of the cared for person and due to being overburdened, ignorance, incompetence, or powerlessness provides inadequate care, neglects, or in any other way causes unintended harm. The abuse of elders often involves derailed care and also children or adults with special needs or disabilities could be affected by this form of abuse.

Animal abuse

Research shows that a remarkable number of cases of domestic violence also involve animal abuse. The close bond between humans and animals can cause pets to become a target for the perpetrators of domestic violence. A perpetrator of domestic violence may abuse a pet or use it as a weapon. If there is animal abuse, you have to be extra alert for indicators of domestic violence in the family.
